FASTER AND MORE GROWING CYCLES WITH NEW BOX

Alfagy, distributor of heat and power products in Europe and the USA has launched 'The Green Box', the first portable 1 MWe and COdiNOx.

The Green Box captures CO2 from the flue of a 1 MWe power generator. The Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant is fitted with CO2 capture and heat recovery. This unit works off the natural gas grid and the CO2 is pumped into the greenhouse where it can increase plant growth by up to 30%. The electricity which is produced can be sold to power local houses or electricity companies.

Peter Kindt, Managing Director at Alfagy explains, "the technology behind this is nothing new but the Green Box is the first portable unit and can transported easily and cost effectively in a container to any destination. Because it is not part of the infrastructure, financing the project is also easier."

The payback period is two years, and with regular servicing the unit gives many years of profit generation, with electricity prices expected to rise by a minimum of 9% per year and oil and gas prices also increasing it could be a good option.

The capacity of the Green Box is 3 acres (1.2 HA) per Mega Watt depending on the climate. More units can be installed in parallel for larger sites.
